1.4.2 Alveolar blood supply

The alveoli receive blood from two circulation paths. They receive blood from the pulmonary artery, this is blood coming directly from the right ventricle entering the lungs to pick up oxygen. In addition there are dedicated arteries branching from the aorta supplying the bronchi. This blood supplies the lung tissue with nutrients and oxygen.
